The first ever iPhone was released in June 28, 2007 by the Apple company. There are four types of iPhones that were released but they were released all at different dates. The four types of iPhones are:
- iPhone
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 3Gs
- iPhone 4
Originally, AT&T was the only carrier to provide service to the iPhone but recently Verizon started providing service to the iPhones as well. All the iPhones only come in two colors, black and white. They all also use the same software, which is called iOS which is made from OS X . iPhone are made in United States and sold in more than 70 countries. Making the iPhones an international device.
The original iPhone, the first one to be released, was released June 29, 2007 and was originally launched in two sizes, 4GB and 8GB. Then they created a bigger size for the iPhone, which is a 16GB. The iPhone 3G was released in July 8, 2008, the iPhone 3G comes in 8GB and 16GB. Then came the iPhone 3GS, which comes in 16GB and 32GB. On that version of the iPhone, they improved the navigation making the navigation on-board, improving the performances and, the camera on the phone. Also, 3GS with iOS 4.2 is the first multitasking iPhone.
Lastly, the iPhone 4 come in one size 16GB. It allows you to multi task whenever you want, now improved the camera even more by recording videos, making the camera 5 mega-pixels, and improving more than just the camera on the iPhone 4. All the types of the iPhones are touch screen. They all have a touch flip keyboard to use for everything when using the iPhones. Also, the original iPhone is two years older than the Android, so that means the Android is the newest phone device compared to the iPhone.
The first Android to come out was February 9, 2009. There are more than five types of Androids so far, they all use the Linux Kernel software. The first five are called:
- Android 1.1= February 9, 2009
- Android 1.5(Cupcake)= April 30, 2009
- Android 1.6(Donut)= September 15, 2009
- Android 2.1(Eclair)= January 12, 2010
- Android 2.2(Froyo)= May 20, 2010
So far, as of July in 2010 there are more than 75,000 applications in the the application market. The cell phone carriers that provide service to the Androids are Sprint, AT&T ,Verizon, and Metro PCS. Androids have many similarities and differences with the iPhone. All though, Androids have 5 major difference from iPhones. The differences are Androids have:
- Open Source
- Real Multi-Task
- Runs Flash
- Choice of Handset
- Choice of Carrier
When they say “ Open Source”, they mean that the source codes are open to whoever, whenever. Real multi-tasking is when you can open and use multiple applications at the same time. While other phones have adopt flash, as in when you go to a flash site you can’t view the video or play the game, Androids already run Flash so you won’t have the problem of not being able to view a website, game , or video. You then can choice the handset that fits you, as in you can choose to have a QWERTY keyboard or a regular keyboard to text on. Androids also have a system called SWYPE which allows you to run your fingers to the letters and it types the word the phone thinks you are typing. Lastly, choosing your choice of carrier is fairly simply, choosing a carrier means you can choose what carrier is your favorite out of the options the Android has.
Finally, Androids also run softwares called Java and Dalvik. Dalvik is a virtual machine in Google’s Android Operating System which was also was named after a town in Iceland, and Java is a famous computer software that allows you to view games and business applications. Java first came out in 1995 by a computer company called Sun Microsystems. Androids are also register-based V. M. Which V.M stands for virtual machine.
In conclusion, I believe my statement was right. I still believe that an Android phone has more than an iPhone has so far. There are still Android’s coming out today. Most of the cell phone commercials I see on T.V are new Androids being released. The first Android out of the top ten list of best Androids is the Samsung Epic 4G. I believe that out of Android vs. iPhone, Androids should win!
